LFW: Ashish SS12

Designer Ashish Gupta took a horticultural approach to Spring/Summer with flowers taking centre stage. From daisys to sunflowers, roses and tulips, they adorned every garment in the collection mixed with stripes and animal print. Whilst his signature sequins were still the backbone of each look, the overall mood was altogether softer, more whimsical than we have seen in the past.

From slouchy shorts and vests to floor length dresses with extreme, thigh high splits, the collection covered both daywear and eveningwear equally. Each look toughened up by workmen boots with daisy's sprouting from the top. It was clear that Ashish was in a playful mood whilst designing this collection and the new direction was well received. Whilst many designers would find the concept of sequins a challenge in itself, he continues to reinvent them each season through colour and print to create a fresh approach to embellishment. Genius!
