LFW: Burberry Prorsum SS12

To say the Burberry show space was impressive this season was an understatement. As you walked through the doors you were greeted by a hologram of Rosie Huntington Whitely wooing you to try her new Burberry Body fragrance. Encased in rose gold faceted panels, you were intrigued to find out how the rest of the space would unfold, and it didn't disappoint. The spectacular catwalk was surrounded by glass panels allowing the daylight to flood in and give a clear view to all.
Cara Delevingne opened the show with a belted, purple trench. The skirt was a lot fuller than we've seen in previous seasons and set the stage for what was to come. Deep, Autumnal shades of olive, bronze and forest green made up the colour palette for the collection which felt as natural as the trees you could see outside. Wooden beads and intricate crochet adorned t-shirts and collars as the British heratige brand excelled at what they do best - outerwear. The classic trench was of course on show but introduced for SS12 was a new parka style. It came long and cropped, printed and plain with rafia collars or woven leather sleeves. A stunning new summer staple for sure.
The African influence was apparent throughout, but never more than with the tribal prints first seen in the Pre Collection. They were carried through to the catwalk covering gathered dresses with plunging neck lines and adding colour to trench coats.
As the models walked the finale, rose gold petals fell from the sky reminding us that this digital led brand definitely know how to put on a show.
